Recruiting and Motivating All Populations to Participate

There are no surefire methods for recruiting and motivating families to participate in events, committees, study groups, parenting classes, or other activities. Although each school population is different, a personal invitation, face-to-face or on the phone, is the best strategy. Helping families understand there are certain things they should expect from their child’s school often helps them feel more legitimate in asking questions or seeking help. Finding ways to communicate that the school values their expectations can motivate some families to participate. “4.11 What Families Should Expect from their School” in the workbook lists twelve expectations parents should have of their children’s school.
